The Project Journal

Week 8: August 10 - August 16

This week was not a fun one. I had to fly to Seattle for a family emergency. I don't really want to write too much about it here, but that consumed most of my week.

I worked a little bit on the parsing issues when I was in Santa Cruz. It's definitely interesting playing around with software with not much documentation. I can't believe I'm almost done working at the lab - living by myself and going to work and signing a lease and being Grown Up has been so much fun. It seems surreal to be going back to school so soon, to my tiny little dorm room in Ohio!

Okay, enough rambling. I've also been working on a website for one of the other professors at UCSC, and one of the most fun things about it has been writing a python program that automatically makes a list of all his publications and organises them, outputting a HTML file. That's a really small thing, but it was lots of fun to right, because I'm not all that used to writing immediately useful scripts like that.

Anyway, not much going on here. I will be back next week, one last time!
