GRE

So today I registered for the GRE, the Graduate Record Exam. It is a computerized test with verbal, quantitative and writing portions and is required for graduate school application.

I will be taking it in Indiana shortly after I get back from Seattle. That is pretty early I know, but I would rather have it done with before the school year starts. Additionally, if I am not satisfied with my scores, I can always retake it.

The GRE is always one of those things where I never planned to worry about it until senior year, far in the future right? Now, strangely, it is right before senior year. It really emphasizes the fact that the past 3 years have gone by very quickly. Soon I will be deciding which grad schools to apply to, which could get interesting.

More nerdiness tomorrow! A member of the Databases lab is giving a practice Generals talk. The General Exams at University of Washington are seem to be a talk you give around the end of year 4 about the contributions of your thesis (thus far and upcoming) to qualify you for your dissertation. I am pretty excited for tomorrow, and not just because there are supposed to be free donuts.
