Systems Research Mentoring Workshop

The workshop focused on answering the following questions:

  • Do you have what it takes to get a PhD?
  • Why is it 'cool' to get a PhD?
  • What interesting things can you do after receiving your PhD?
  • What do you need to build a strong graduate school application?

It was also intended to give students the opportunity to network with internationally known researchers.

The presentations given at the workshop were very interesting since some of them exposed me to research areas to which I was unfamiliar. In addition, I had the opportunity to listen to many personal stories of the lives of the presenters, which were inspiring since they exemplified perseverance and hard work; they provided encouragement to those students who might think a PhD is impossible for them to earn.
