Week 8

July 3- July 7

This week, we had something new to do. There was a group of Korean students arrived here at UNCC this sunday. They are from Hallym University in Korea. Most of the students were majoring in Computer Science/Engineering, and some of them were majoring in physics. There were about 15 male students and 2 female students. Their professor was also female. I was hoping to see more female students but of course, like in America, there are not many females majoring in Computer Science in Korea either. Both of the girls were studying Physics, I believe.

I am planning to go to Korea next week to see my family in Korea, so it was nice to see some of "my people". They are going to be here for 3 weeks learing about developing games. We as the interns are going to be the TA's for the students. Dr. Barnes is going to teach the class and she was happy to have a korean person( me ) to help translate between the students and her.

Due to the fact that I am a Korean who is fluent in both languages, the students from Korea wanted me to participate in many of their social activities. It was fun hanging out with the new people and learn about them, especially the fact that I can speak KOREAN with them. I felt much like home while they were here. Most of the social events were to have fun and learn about America. I think about 5 students from the Hallym University were interested in coming to UNCC for their graduate studies. Alex and I talked to them a lot about the graduate schools in Amerca and what they should prepare before they decide to come.

During the morning sessions, Korean students were very interested in Dr. Barnes' lectures. Although they couldn't really understand what she was really saying, they tried their best to participate in class.

At the end of the week, I had to leave UNCC since I have to prepare my trip to Korea on Tuesday. I hate to say good byes to my summer intern friends and the newly made Korean friends. When I come back from Korea, everyone will be gone. ㅠㅠ
