My hobbies include running and swimming, both of which I have done competitively. Sophomore year I completed the Boston Marathon, which was possibly the best experience of my life. I am active in the Tufts Protestant Student Fellowship, a socially liberal religious group on campus. I love to read, and I've gotten really attached to cross-stitching. I grew up playing piano and cello and have recently picked up guitar as well.

I entered Tufts planning a Math major, but had an amazing chemistry professor freshman year and switched to that. In the meantime, I fell in love with computer science and was a double major for a time before deciding that my interest in chemistry was a function of the professor and not the subject itself. I've now focused on computer science and added a math minor because my interest in it has not waned.

My plan right now is to continue my education next year in a PhD program focused on computational geometry. This fall will involve lots of studying and preparing for standardized tests and filling out applications. It's really scary to look at myself a year from now and not know where I will be.

A quick explanation of the picture: having grown up in Kansas City, Missouri, I have this insane obsession with the ocean, because it was always a foreign treat for me. This particular picture was taken this spring on the northern coastline of Massachusetts.
