Journal - Week 9

::: Day 1 - Monday 08/01/05 :::

 My throat was itching last night and I woke up this morning with a horrible soar throat. I got some cough drops and headed to the bus station. I was at UMASS around 11am and went straight to work. But I was only feeling worse. I worked for an hour or so and then left to go back to the dorm. I slept the entire afternoon and then did some work on my laptop. The lab is too cold and I didn't want to go.

::: Day 2 - Tuesday 08/02/05 :::

Today I was feeling even sicker. I didn't want to stay in so I went to work. I worked the entire day, but I barely remember anything. I was feverish and was barely keeping my eyes open.

I worked on finishing the RFID GUI and connecting the Bluetooth software to that. At around 3:30 I was ready to test it all out, but Vinod's computer froze. I just had no more energy to stay up. I reminded Vinod that I will be gone Wed and part of Thu because Matt has his final music synthesis showcase.

I got to Boston at around 8pm and went straight to Berklee to see Matt. My sickness was getting worse, so he took me home, gave me medicine and stayed up with me until my fever was gone.

::: Day 3 - Wednesday - 08/03/05  :::

I spent the entire day in Boston in bed. I don't know where I got this cold but it hit me hard. And the worse thing is that it will get to Matt eventually. I felt a little better at night and went to Matt's music presentation. Luckily, it was held a couple of buildings down from where Matt's apartment is.

::: Day 4 - Thursday - 08/04/05 :::

Sick in bed again, but feeling a lot better. Unfortunately Matt is getting sick now. I had to e-mail Prof. Gao and let her know I have been sick. She was very understanding and said I shouldn't worry about the the project demo on Fri and that we were going to do it next week instead. I am going back to Amherst tomorrow.

::: Day 5 - Friday 08/05/05 :::

I got to UMASS at lunchtime today and feeling a lot better. I went straight to work and tested out my RFID-Bluetooth code. Some bugs needed fixing but surprisingly nothing major. One of the things that bothered me though was that the Bluetooth stuff installed on the PCs was not working again and the two computers wouldn't connect. When I restarted both computers everything worked normally. I will probably never know why things randomly get broken.

I added a method call to my call that is for a method Vinod wrote. As long as I understand it is supposed to send a String or data package from the Server computer to a PDA running Linux. We will test this on Monday.

I took some books home with me so I can work on my final report for the DMP. I need to do that and to update my website since I was sick and missed 2 days. I still feel that I am on track with the project, which is good. One more week and everything will be completed :)

::: Day 6 - Saturday 08/06/05 :::

I spent most of today in bed/on the computer. It's been a while since I last had a day to myself to do basically nothing. So I did nothing. Well, almost. I did work on the documentation for all the java classes I've written this summer.

At night I made some dinner and watched Zoolander (hilarious!)

::: Day 7 - Sunday 08/07/05 :::

A quick note on UMASS. This place and its DISorganization have made my life hell. I can truly, with no regrets say that I HATE IT. If I ever have to come back and live on campus I WILL BRING A CARDBOARD BOX AND SLEEP ON THE STREET.

To anyone who might consider this place: NEVER EVER THINK ABOUT LIVING HERE!
