Background Information:

I will be working with Vinod, a grad student at UMASS. He is pursuing a PhD in the ECE department. His work involves ZigBee-connected sensor network and their communication with Bluetooth-enabled devices.

In more broader aspect, I will be introduced to different wireless technologies and problems within the field.

Some of those include: ZigBee, Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Java and Java for mobile platforms, wireless networks, time synchronization, energy efficiency and constraints, networking.

Goals:

At the beginning I will be working towards the building of a GUI (using Java's Swing) for a client-server application. One device will be pulling information from the ZigBee network and transferring it to another device using Bluetooth.

I will have to learn loads of Java, some network programming, and familiarize myself with the Bluetooth/ZigBee mysteries.
