My Mentor, Susan Rodger

She is an Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of the Computer Science Internship Program (CSIP). CSIP is a program for undergraduate CS students to gain experience working in a CS environment.

Susan's focus is on Computer Science Education (CSE). Because of that, the programs that she is developing are geared towards students and teachers in a learning environment.

FUN FACTS!

Susan's husband is German. He speaks German to their kids, and she speaks English. Thus the kids are easily bilingual.

Susan's devotion to her two sons, Erich and Markus (German names) is evidenced by the photo calendar and school posters on display in her office.

Susan's husband raises fish. Their house is practically an aquarium! (ok, it's not really an aquarium...but they do have a lot of tanks)

Susan and her fellow CS professors love to use fun illustrations in class. For passing parameters, they use mini frisbees. (Susan has these all over her office) To teach modularity, another professor had a Mr. Potato Head (interchangeable parts and all that jazz).
