Getting around: transportation

Since I don't have my car for my first month in Seattle, I've been getting around mostly on foot and using the Seattle public transportation, which is pretty good and convenient for getting almost anywhere; the Metro transit website has a handy trip planner and you can also buy bus passes online.

I also brought my bike, which is fun to explore Seattle on. I see a lot of people on bikes, and there are some fun bike trails (check out the Burke-Gilman Trail). If you do decide to get a bike, it's probably a good idea to get a helmet (you'll most likely have to bike on some busy streets) and a good lock.

All in all, I definitely don't think it's too hard to get by without a car. And since Seattle is fairly hill-y, you'll probably get some good exercise if you don't have a car :)
