Roof under your head: housing

Finding a place to live

If you're here to work at UW, it'd probably be more convenient to live close to campus. Here is a map of where the campus is in Seattle.
I looked in the following places:

  • The Classifieds section of the UW newspaper, the Daily. I think I mostly looked up places I found there.
  • The housing section of Seattle Craig's list.
Our house

My bike & I in front of the house

I fould this place from the Daily. The house is a big "co-op" kind of house near the UW campus - there are 16 rooms on 3 or 4 floors. My room is in the basement (the landlord calls it "the first floor" :)) There are 2 or 3 kitchens and showers and toilets on every floor, and the public areas in the house get cleaned once a week, which is convenient for lazy people like myself. There is a lounge with satellite TV and internet access (although the wireless network is moody sometimes). All in all, the house is alright for a summer stay, although I think if I was living here more permanently I would rather find a private apartment.
