Professor Justine Cassell works in the Department of Communication Studies and Computer Science at Northwestern University. Her research interests focus on understanding natural forms of communication and using technology for those forms of communication and lingustic expression. She develops embodied conversational agents, which are virtual humans capable of communicating with humans through language and nonverbal behavior.
