Timing Experiments in the Internet
So the whole purpose of the summer is to do computer research, right? Well, here are the goals, tasks and other various information about the research I will be doing this summer.
Overall Career Objective (5 years from now):
This fall I will be senior at Southwest Baptist University. Once I graduate in the Spring of 2005 I would like to continue my education and start to pursue my doctoral degree in Computer Science. I am still currently investigating where I would like to go. (If you have any good suggestions on where I should look at for my graduate studies, I would love to hear about it- please e-mail me at 297398@sbuniv.edu).
Overall Summer Objective:
Conduct experiments on the Internet to understand message latency
Importance/Impact of Summer Objective:
Will permit validation of partial synchrony model for the internet, enabling the development of better algorithms
Objectives of the summer
- Objective 1: Develop necessary technical skills
- Network programming
- Planet Lab.
Rationale: Needed to conduct and execute experiments
- Objective 2: Background reading
Rationale: Understand research context
- Objective 3: Develop experimental plan, conduct experiments and summarize
results
Rationale: This will provide initial understanding of real internet timing behavior
Deliverables
