Research: Embodied Virtual Agents

The work in Besty's lab involves a cross-cultural approach to improving human-computer multi-agent interaction, by examining the problem from two viewpoints:

  1. Humans interacting with agents:

Looking at ways in which humans learn to interact with autonomous agents, and technology in general, and how humans adapt their behavior in order to elicit desired responses from automated system.

  2. Agents interacting with humans:

Looking at ways in which autonomous agents, both virtual and embodied, can learn from interacting with humans, adapting over time so that these interactions become more natural and more effective.
