Here I am outside of the impressive computer science building. Not many classes are held in this somewhat-new building; it's mainly for research. Lori Clarke's office and where I work, in LASER, are on the third floor.

This is the little pond in the middle of campus.

The UMASS library is the tallest building around. I would hate to have to do any research in there if it meant riding up and down the elevator all day. I prefer the cozy Amherst public library.

This is the Amherst public library, located downtown and in walking distance from our apartment.

This is our apartment building. The building used to be Knickerbocker Leather and Novelty Company. We're about as close as you can get to the railroad tracks without getting hit by a train. Fortunately, we're on the second floor. Occasionally a passing train blows its whistle right beneath our window, making my heart jump. At least the trains aren't frequent, and they don't make the dishes rattle. Our neighbors are extremely nice; many of them are graduate students.
