During this week I extended my knowledge of software engineering tools. I learned how to construct diagrams using Rational Rose and received an introduction to BridgePoint. Then I started to work on the analysis of the SMaRT (Scenario Management and Requirements Tool). I devoted a good bit of time to the requirements document -- trying to understand how all the pieces fit together. My role on the project team, this sumer, is to design the database for SMaRT. Thus far, I have designed the tables (for all entities and their attributes). However, this is still a work in progress since I am still not certain that the relationships between each of the tables are correct. Next week, I will be meeting with two people that have worked on SMaRT to get their input. One of these people is Hema Srikanth. Hema is one of Dr. Anton's MS Thesis students; She developed the SMaRT graphical interface. The other person is Paul Zaremba, Paul is an undergraduate student and a member of the SMaRT development team. He and I have joined forces to make SMaRT a success. Next week, I have to obtain some software, make the final decision about what we (Paul and I) will use as our database for our star implementation.
I read some papers on privacy here is annotated bibliography.
After work we organized a friendly game of volleyball. For our first time the participants included: Angela, Brent (from the office next door) and I; it does not sound like too many people. However, by the end of the week each team was comprised of six players and some people cheering on the sideline. I guess we are making progress. Oh, I have to mention this: Angela and I were the only undergrads on the field, the rest were PhD or grad students (makes you feel special, ha :-).
